Another good morning tarpon fishing in islamorada. Dan caught 2 out of 3 nice tarpon today. We had a couple bites near channel 2 bridge. One crushed a live mullet and missed the hook and the other we caught. After an hour and a half or so the tide quit. The wind was howling 20 knots and still pushing the water in with the weaker falling tide. We ran back up the road and lots of boats fishing one of my favorite areas that use to not have much pressure… We tried to squeeze in for a while, no bites and seemed not much going on then so we went over into another channel. Saw a few fish roll and within 15 minutes we were hooked up again. So 2 out of 3 for the morning. Have the night off, caught some bait this afternoon, and full days for a while coming up.

5/8/14 Keys Tarpon Fishing stays hot!
The wind was howling today. I had a morning half day and an evening half day trip. We fished 7 to 11 this morning. Caught 2 nice tarpon of 65 and 100 lbs. Great live bait bite action. This was in the first couple hours, the last couple hours things slowed down. Tried a spot around the marina and it was a parking lot as the wind had everyone fishing a certain area. But we were happy with 2 nice fish. This evening fishing was good too. We caught 3 big tarpon between 70 and 100 lbs. Oliver from France who had fished with me last year, a great night for him. Hopefully it’s the same tomorrow with the tarpon fishing in islamorada, I have a morning half day trip, and probably taking the night off!
5/7/14 Morning and evening half day tarpon fishing islamorada
Fished a morning half and an evening trip today. This morning we had caught the last of the incoming followed by a quick turnaround to the falling tide. We caught 1 fish right away a nice 40 lber by the bridge on a live mullet. After that we did not have much action for a while. Saw a handful of other fish hooked at that bridge and the other bridge, but not a whole lot going on. We ran back near the marina to fish some channels and had one bite that sucked us off right before it was time to head in. So 1 for 2 slow morning but glad we got one! This evening was different I had heard the late afternoon was a good bite, we caught the last couple hours of the incoming tide and it was good. We caught 4 out of 6 tarpon all big lunkers 100+ lbs including a 160 lb or so moose! We fished 3 to 7 leaving a little bit early and it paid off. Great fish big and pretty. Fishing can always change just like that!
