6/27/13 Evening tarpon fishing report

Well another evening islamorada tarpon fishing trip in june and some more fish to report!  Went 2 for 4 on local islamorada tarpon plus had some other action with some big rays and a couple blacktip sharks.  One fish we battled for almost an hour and drug us almost 2 miles!  It was nice not waiting more than 20 minutes for some action!  Dead baiting was effective the wind really slacked off which I often don’t like trying to drift with crabs though another buddy of mine did say they caught one near dusk doing so ‘down the road.’  The fishing and weather should stay good the next few evenings, I’m going again tomorrow night you should give it a try!

6/26/13 Islamorada night tarpon fishing in June

Got out for an evening trip tonight.  We caught some fresh mullet this morning in the backcountry while doing a regular rod bending half day.  Went out around 3:15 this afternoon and fished the local channels and bridges.  Caught 2 out of 3 tarpon, smaller guys in the 40-60 lb range, but lots of fun!  Fishing our fresh mullets was good.  We also caught a 300 lb ‘mud marlin’ which was pretty cool to see as he swam way up on a flat.  Going again tomorrow night I’ve heard the crab bite has been good in some areas so may try that too!  Great falling tides from late afternoon into the dark the next few days, should be good fishing!

6/25/13 Cape Sable Tarpon Fishing

Fished east cape today.  We caught some nice silver mullets on the way out.  We went 2/3 on tarpon, smaller guys in the 40-60 lb range but lots of fun still.  Also caught some cobias and sharks and a ‘mud marlin’.  Fishing in the summer time for tarpon can be good off east cape and surrounding areas though its work you must look around for the fish and lots of sharks to contend with.  Yesterday we also caught a tarpon on the way home near Islamorada in the afternoon.
