7/9/25 July Florida Keys Tarpon Fishing Update

Well I’m back after a nice long 3 week break visiting friends & family.  Been a little while since I’d been fishing but we did a little scouting and bait catching yesterday and had a trip today.  Mullet were fairly plentiful in the backcountry which was good to see.  We were able to catch a bunch for myself and Capt. Steve’s next couple of trips.  Of course those baits is just like fishing sometimes you have to be there at the right time and I don’t like going out without bait so was glad to load up.  We looked around and saw a decent amount of tarpon as well.   Today I got out with Mike, Meghan, and Peyton down from SC.  We ran into the backcountry and had nice northeasterly breeze about 10-12 mph.  I like a light northerly wind in the summer the fish just seem to get fiesty when we have that.  Anyways the tarpon were jumping and flopping everywhere when we set up.  We got in the right zone and within a few minutes we hooked a double header!  What a way to start our day.  Got one fish to the hand and got the other one on the leader but he cut us off on the motor.  After that we caught another one a little bit later on.  The tide quit on us but we still managed another bite on the dead tide.  Once it started coming in the tarpon laid down a little I didn’t see as many.  We caught a nice tripletail though and a couple of big sawfish which was cool!  We moved a coulple times and then got into another tarpon zone and jumped 3 tarpon in a row!  Finally we got one last one to stick and everyone got to get a tarpon to the hand which was great.  Phenomenal fishing and nice to have an easy one on my first day back.  This summer is looking great for tarpon fishing after we had a little bit tougher spring season.  I have open days in July and August, September, and even October can still be good.  I already have discounted rates available for September and may offer some in August too.  If you have any questions or want to book a trip shoot me an email or give me a shout!
