6/26/15 Florida Keys June Tarpon Fishing continues

Back in the everglades again today.  Bait was not super easy though we got a couple good cracks on it on our way back.  Ran back to the everglades areas where we had seen tarpon.  We didn’t see much where they were yesterday morning so we made a little further run and did find some jumping and rolling fish.  Set up and sharks ate us up for a while though we did jump one tarpon.  After that we ran still further where we had found them the other day and we got in a little rally again catching 2 out of 3 tarpon in about 45 minutes.  After that the tide quit but we stuck it out.  We saw a few fish airing out nearby and moved over there and sharks got on us again, though literally the last bait we put out we hooked our 3rd and final tarpon of the day.  All fish were in the 50-60 lb range.  3 for 5

6/25/15 Late June Tarpon Fishing in the Florida Keys

Well more tarpon fishing today.  Yesterday we did other stuff and had fun with trout, snapper, snook, and other creatures.  Today my angler Ian came from Australia with his family, his son Oliver was fishing today too.  He had hopes of landing his first swordfish and silver king. Unfortunately swordfishing yesterday they had a fish on the leader within sight and pulled the hook on him.  A heartbreaking loss though that is fishing!  Anyways we left out early today and caught some bait on the way back.  Mostly large black mullets the silvers have thinned out, a few throws and we had 3 dozen baits.  We fished off the beaches of the cape and saw tons of fish early.  Moved around quite a few times though they were just not biting we saw a few other boats and nobody we saw hooked up.  Lots of sharks kept us busy though and Oliver had a great time catching them.  We ran further up the beach and found some more fish later on as the tide was quitting.  I decided to wait until the tide turned since we had seen fair numbers of fish and eventually we got into a good tarpon bite.  Ian caught 2 out of 4 and was thrilled and Oliver landed 15 sharks total.  It took some patience but in the end persistence paid off.  Sometimes you have to fish all day to get those few cracks at the silver king!  A couple days ago we did tarpon fish back there most of the day in the harder southeast wind.  We only had 1 bite we missed and lots of sharks.  0 for 1 and 2 for 4

6/22/15 More great june everglades tarpon fishing

We had another stellar day today in the everglades backcountry of islamorada tarpon fishing.  Bait was a little tougher today had to throw quite a few times and just pick at them a few at a time.  But we got what we needed and I had some leftovers from yesterday.  Luckily my anglers showed up extra early so that helped since bait was more difficult!  We ran out where we found tarpon yesterday and had the last bit of incoming tide.  We had shark activity right away and soon after a nice 40 lb tarpon.  We landed him, he fought well though was foul hooked which explained why.  After that we set back up and the tide was just slacking and we jumped another fish of about the same size.  Once the tide started falling again we had a couple more tarpon bites and landed both those fish, both in the same size range, plus several more sharks including some big blacktips.  After that the wind picked up and things seemed to kind of shut down so we tried some other stuff.  Finished our day with a few trout and snapper, and about half a dozen snook.  3 for 4
