7/14/14 July Tarpon Fishing in the Everglades

More great action in the everglades this july tarpon fishing!  I had bait from yesterday so we got an early start and made our way into the backcountry.  Had good falling tide all morning.  We did very well we caught 5 nice tarpon in the 40 to 80 lb range, including a double header 30 and 50 lber!  Amazing fishing and what I like to see in July.  This is the most fish I’ve caught on a trip in a while and good to see.  This was all in 2 hours of fishing we finished up and caught some stuff for dinner after 9:30.  R.E. and Colin had a very special day fishing in the backcountry of Islamorada!

7/13/14 Florida Keys Backcountry Tarpon Fishing in July

Another great day here fishing in the florida keys this july.  We started out tarpon fishing.  I caught some fresh mullet on our way back.  One throw and we loaded up with 4 dozen or so nice silver mullet.  Went back to the channels that I’ve been fishing which have been consistent.  We hooked a tarpon in the first 5 minutes.  Ended up catching 3 altogether in about 2 hours, one fish was about 100 lbs good to see a big fish again!  The others were 50-65 lbs.  We ended the day catching a few pilchards and pinfish for bait, and used those to boat about 8 nice snook.

7/12/14 July backcountry tarpon fishing in Islamorada

Good fishing again today.  Had bait already so we went right to fishing.  Had a good couple hours of falling tide in the backcountry everglades in the tarpon channels.  We went 3 for 3, a smaller fish, a medium 40 lber, and the last was a nice one of maybe 65 lbs.  Not a bad way to start the day!  Also had a couple sharks.  Later in the day was tough though we managed to get a few keeper trout and some mangrove snappers for dinner.  The islamorada tarpon fishing in july is staying consistent!
