5/21/15 Keys Tarpon Fishing Report Late May

Well it was fairly calm again today but the wind in the backcountry started to blow slightly out of the west/northwest.  Definitely changed things around.  We departed early at 6 AM and ran back there.  We were able to crush the mullet early on which was nice.  Fished some channels and did not see much caught a shark.  Then ran where we got into them yesterday, though today it was a different story.  Did not see much at all we did have 3 bites though but fish just weren’t showing.  We landed 1, lost 1, and jumped another off on the bite.  Plus lots of blacktip sharks.  After that we tried a couple other spots, didn’t see much.  Ran back near town to try and had a couple cudas eat us off, caught a couple sharks, and only saw 1 tarpon roll.  Gonna leave early tomorrow and try it again!  1 for 3

5/20/15 May Islamorada Tarpon Fishing in the Everglades

Well the wind laid out flat calm today.  We caught a little bait early in the morning but with the falling water now there isn’t much locally early.  We tried close to home where I’d been having some luck the last few days.  Plenty of fish were showing in there today, rolling all through the channel.  We had to wait patiently but eventually a little over an hour after we set up we had our bite.  Landed a nice 70 lb fish.  Then we ran into the backcountry off the beaches of the mainland.  Had the last of the falling tide and saw a couple fish splashing around.  Set up and soon we had a tarpon on.  Caught him and then a few sharks, jumped another tarpon, then tide switched.  We moved around a little, and then hooked a double header tarpon.  Landed one and the other ran way out and eventually we pulled the hook.  A few more sharks then we jumped a couple more tarpon, moved one last time and then hooked and caught another one.  Not a bad day at all action all throughout.  I have the same guys tomorrow so perhaps more of the same they love tarpon!  4 for 8

5/19/15 May Tarpon Fishing Islamorada Florida Keys

Today we caught some bait first thing, wasn’t easy but got one good throw of about 30 baits.  Fished the same area we had our bite yesterday.  We jumped one after about 25 minutes, then put the baits back out.  After another half hour I was about ready to leave and decided to give it a few more minutes.  It paid off we hooked a nice 120lb fish and fought him for an hour and landed him.  After that we went in the backcountry and had a great day catching trout, snapper, snook, and redfish.  1 for 2
