5/4/17 Good Everglades Tarpon Fishing Florida Keys in May

Nice day again today light breeze out of the East.  Was out with the Stepan Polymers crew again today, with Art and Bob.  We ran right to the tarpon grounds and had very good fishing, as good as it gets.  We hooked two double headers in a row!  The first one got off though we landed one fish, then we caught both the next go round, then we ended up catching another single fish, all in about 45 minutes… it was crazy!  We ended up staying and caught 2 more tarpon in the next hour or so.   We fished from 8:30 to about 10:00 for tarpon and ended up going 6 for 9… just ridiculous!  May be all over tomorrow though as we are suppose to be getting a strong southwest breeze.  Not gonna be nasty for long though looks like it’ll calm down again Sunday and should have good conditions if the fish don’t go too far!  6 for 9

5/3/17 Everglades May Tarpon Fishing Islamorada

Got out with the Stepan crew again today.  Good fishing out in the backcountry.  Wind laid out flat calm and the tarpon were everywhere…  They didn’t bite red hot we had to work at it, but ended up getting 5 bites and landing 4 fish, along with plenty of sharks too including blacktips and lemons.  We did have a good hour of slack tide mid day too, took a while to turn, so otherwise we would of done a bit better I think.  Tomorrow I may likely run right to this area, as we goofed around for an hour or so before getting their today and also left late at 7:30 or so.  4 for 5

5/2/17 May Bridge Fishing for tarpon in the Florida Keys

Got out with the Stepan Polymers group today which we have for the next 3 days as well.  The boys wanted meat to start with so we focused on our mangrove snappers and had decent luck with that though we had to work at it and fish multiple areas to get some good size ones.  We decided to try for tarpon in the afternoon.  We headed back towards the big bridge at Long Key around noon time, however we caught the very end of the falling tide and slack water after that.  I didn’t feel like waiting on the tide and didn’t see much for fish either so we ran back towards home and fished some other local bridges.  Saw quite a few fish on the bottom and we set up, eventually getting a bite fairly quickly and Aneil landed a nice 140 lb tarpon!  We set back up and I thought it might be a good window of fishing with  the tide coming in good now, but after that we never had another sniff…  Anyways was glad to have gotten a tarpon.  1 for 1
