Got out for a full day today with Cory and Sarah. Found the mullet pretty good and we caught 50 or so baits in a couple throws. Nice for them to be easy for a change it’s been hard to find mullet in the mornings and that in turn means more time bait fishing and less time tarpon fishing, and sometimes tough to get any at all which means having to goto plan B! Anyways today it was easy so I was happy. We went off the beaches and found a lot of tarpon free jumping. Sharks were very bad we probably caught 2 dozen sharks but did get a couple tarpon bites, both of which we landed so that was good then finished the day up with some trout for dinner. Busy week for me I am fishing the next 6 days straight will probably be mixing it up a little but for sure fishing for tarpon some too! 2 for 2
7/4/16 Everglades Tarpon Fishing in July
Went in the back to try a similar routine as yesterday. The wind kicked up good and fishing was definitely not the same as yesterday! We did have some decent tarpon action early though we weren’t able to keep the hooks in any of them. We picked away and caught a handful of snook, plus a variety of other specimens throughout the day. 0 for 3
7/3/16 July Tarpon Fishing in Islamorada
Got back on the water today after a nice bahamas trip for the last week. We caught some pilchards early on and went back to cape sable. Fishing was incredible as it was when I left. We got into some small tarpon early and caught several and jumped a few others. The rest of the day rods were bent all day long with snook and a few redfish and a goliath grouper. Just a fantastic day! I’m likely going to be sticking to this style of fishing as the bigger tarpon are just not as consistent as last year, and there is so much more to catch while doing this plus you have shots at tarpon while doing so. When the mullet is easier to catch and fish are around I will definitely be giving it a try, but right now fishing the lighter gear with pinfish and pilchards is the way to go! 3 for 5
